The Child and Youth Unit (VE) in Ystad consists of the pediatric emergency department, inpatient ward, day care, and a specialist clinic. We operate in Ystad with a total of approximately 80 employees and belong to the administration of the Hospital in Ystad. The VE for children and youth in Ystad is known for a staff-driven working method and a continuous improvement spirit.

The pediatric and youth medicine department has three inpatient care places and additional care places for day care for children and youth up to 18 years old. The medical specialties mainly include pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, and ear-nose-throat diseases. The pediatric emergency department receives children and youth with acute illnesses around the clock. Ambulance alarms with priority levels two to four are also received at the pediatric emergency department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant or pediatric nurse with us, you will be offered a varied and stimulating job in a good working environment that requires flexibility and collaboration. You will work with common tasks in a pediatric emergency department, such as nursing, sampling, care, and treatment of acutely ill children. The introduction also includes training in patient-related analyses, basic pediatrics, emergency exercises, medical technology, and our triage tool RETTS. In the role, you will register arrivals, weigh and measure children and youth, assist in examinations and treatments, and perform blood sampling. Additionally, you will handle certain administrative tasks, such as inventory, orders, and error reporting. You will work in a team in close collaboration with nurses and other professionals.

Together we ensure that you receive the knowledge you need to succeed in your role. Therefore, you will be offered an individual introduction that is tailored to your experiences, competencies, and wishes.

We are open during daytime, Monday to Friday. Some evening shifts may occur as we actively work to improve our accessibility for our families.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care/health care or children according to the previous program structure or are a trained nursing assistant within the new program structure who has studied all specializations. Work experience in healthcare is required for the position. Additionally, you have good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. A specialist education in children and youth and previous experience in pediatric care is an advantage.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant has become a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title as a nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you must be able to present proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by the transitional provisions, it means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
